Mrs. B

Bio

Mrs. B got their name from the name Mrs. Brummer; the principal of the Contemporary Music College where the original members of Mrs. B did their music studies. Mrs.Brummer passed away in 2003 and so it was decided that MRS.B would be an apt representation of the bands underlying positive attitudes and principles towards music and creativity.

In August 2005 Pedro Barbosa (singer & guitarist) started production and recording of a 13 track album of songs he'd written. Wolmer Records hosted the creative process and by March 2006 the album was finished and MRS B was ready to go public.
This was accompanied by the release of the Life is so Beautiful video on MK89. 400 people attended the first official MRS B gig…a start which later prompted a win at the Faith Battle of the Bands (June 2006), Tuks FM playlist of Sometimes (July 2006) and a sponsorship deal with Jean Village Music. September 2006 saw Mrs. B at regular Café Barcelona gigs, the Foundry Fly Lounge and a new working relationship with Ethnic Records. At the same time Mrs. B recorded a new single, by request of Barney Simon, and this single was play-listed on Tuks FM, which lead to a stint at Aardklop.
In October 2006 Mrs. B entered the Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB) and went through to the SA finals in November in which they came 3rd with very good reviews from Tony Gozza and Mark Vaas (radio DJ).GBOB 2007 2nd place. October also brought the Tuks FM Demofilter finals(a radio-based battle of the bands) – which they went onto win – meaning a coveted spot to perform at the Tuks FM New Years Party in front of 15 000 people.

In March 2007 Mrs. B performed the "Tuned Acoustic" on TUKS FM, as well as an interview on GO TV for GO Rock( a popular rock TV show in South Africa). September 2008 saw the launch of their second album "Devil in You" in Hatfield Square Pretoria, to an audience of more than 3000 souls. The money raised was donated to the Jakaranda children's home(a refuge for children who come from broken homes).Mrs.B still raise money for the unfortunate and has recently been invited by the Mozambican Government to headline a Rock Show Fundraiser as well as open a new Music Channel by playing live on national TV .

December 2008 they went on to rock the Cape Province with a 3 week tour and gaining massive positive response.
